Buffelsdrift

Description: Buffelsdrift is just 83 km north east of Pretoria in the heart of the bushveld and is easily accessible from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The Elands River runs through this 430 hectare private game farm which is a paradise for bird and nature lovers. A 10 km hiking/mountain biking trail will take you around the farm with plenty of opportunities to view and photograph game, birds, butterflies, trees and nature. Stay at Buffelsdrift and spend the day fishing and boating at the nearby dam. The less energetic need go no further then the deck of their cottage in order to enjoy peace and quiet and relax to the soothing sounds of the bush veld.
Bed capacity: Self catering accommodation is offered in three rustic, A-frame, thatched cottages. The Crocodile Lapa has two en-suite bedrooms and is set on the banks of the Elands River. Squirrel and Bushbuck Cottages have a single en-suite bedroom and a loft with 2 extra beds. All of the cottages are set amongst the trees, each in its own secluded spot where you can enjoy nature without intrusions.
On-site activities: Renown for its raptors. Regular sightings of the African Fish Eagle, Brown and White Fronted Snake Eagles, African Hawk Eagles and Osprey occur. Night drives can be organized with the possibility of seeing six owl and up to four nightjars species including Fiery Cheeked and European Nightjar, Spotted Eagle-Owl, Southern White-faced Skops-Owl and, occasionally the Giant Eagle Owls.
